Well... I recently noticed that my AMD Athlon XP 2900+ Barton Core was running at a speed of 1.6 GHz, and a day after I was looking for buy a vid card and I noticed that the panflit said that the chip should run at 2.08 GHz.

Whats wrong? I have 256 DDR 400MHz from Viking, and I havent touched the bois settings (like it would matter), and im still getting 1.6 GHz...

Maybe its my cpu fan (im hoping to get a heatsink soon)? Im just not so sure...

Please Help
Thanks
Josh

you dont have one?!

if you dont have one it might be thermal throttling cutting in. however i would have thought even at the speed you stated it would still have fried.

im guessing there's a bad setting in your bios.... check you FSB speed; it should be set to 333

That a good possibility

166X12.5=2075 what you suppose to be running at
133X12.5=1662 around what you running at now

This proberly mean the fsb is set to 266(133X2) in the bios instead of 333(166X2).
