chipset limitation problem

Hi every body,
I add 2-512 to my existing 2-512 but I get chipset limitation message.
my computer can handle 2 GB. the memories are the same. I have XP pro 32 bits. 2 GB shows at system info but does not show when I right click "my computer" icon. so the problem is OS. is there any way that I can fix this without reintalling or re formatting my OS?
thanks

it shouldnt be a OS problem. XP 32bit reads up to 3.6Gb. If you have a video card or other random access memory devices installed, that will eat into your memory seen. (like if you had 4 GB of RAM and a 1GB GPU, you would only see 2.6 GB available memory).
