I belive thats the definition, or at least, its what google gave me.Microchips that support the CPU. The chipset usually contains several controllers that govern how information travels between the processor and other components. The big chips on your motherboard that acts sort of like a "crossing guard". It controls the flow of data throughout the motherboard.
