Choice between 2 Asus

My boss is going to dump 2 computers, and I asked him to give me one of them. I have to choose between Computer-1 (Pentium D930) and Computer-2 (Pentium D945).

Both are very similar ASUS, so I have taken the properties to make a decision, but there are things that I do not understand.

PROCESSOR:
Computer-1 (Pentium D930) is 3,00 GHz, 2 cores, 2 threads.

Computer-2 wins I think. But, Why the core speed is faster for Computer-1??? (see screenshots)



MOTHERBOARD:
Computer-1 (Asus P5WD2).
4 x DIMM, Max. 8GB DDR2 800/ 667/ 533 ECC and non-ECC memory

Computer-1 seems better, it accepts up to 8GB DDR2 and faster speeds.
It really surprises me the 2 GB max. for Computer-2...



GRAPHIC CARD:
Computer-1 (Nvidia GeForce 9400 GT) clearly wins Computer-2 (Nvidia GeForce 7300 GS)


I think I must take Computer-1, eventhough the processor seems a slightly slower. Should I?
Otherwise, Are their processors-motherboards compatible to exchange them?

You'll barely notice the difference between the CPUs (basically both are old and slow) so get 'computer 1' because it has a newer GPU (even though both the 7300 GS and the 9400 GT are also old and slow) and supports up to 8GB of RAM, but buying 8GB of DDR2 for that machine would be a huge waste of money so stick with whatever it's got.

I'd take #1 from the more feature-filled board, extra PCIE and GPU.

If he's just dumping them why don't you take both and put the 945 and the RAM from Comp #2 into Comp #1?
 
Another problem is that, by the moment, I only managed to make them work with 1 Gb of RAM (kvr533d2n4/1g), I have some other RAM modules, all of them 533d2n4, but I do not get them to work together or even alone.
 
What are you even going to be using these PCs for? You could probably pick up 2GB of DDR2 relatively cheaply used, or maybe 4GB. Don't spend a crazy amount of time or money on these machines.
 
haha, ok, thanks for the advice of not spending much time.

I will do many things from web browsing to graphic design (Autocad, Photoshop, Illustrator). I'm not planning to put big things on it, but it will be "my computer at home" (I only have a laptop). So if I get to make work those RAM modules I have, it will better serve its purpose.

Maybe it is some incompatibility of 1 Gb with 2 Gb? Maybe is something with the order I put them in the sockets?

However, if there is not an easy solution for this memory question, thanks for the help with the choice.
 
Hmm for graphic design this is not an ideal setup at all. Don't expect any of those programs to run terribly well on either of these systems! Unless you're using old versions of them.

Could be RAM incompatibility. Buy a 4GB set of DDR2 (2x2GB) and that should do the trick. You'll want to upgrade the RAM but don't spend a lot.
