Hi all,

I am trying to build a quit system but I am not sure what kinda off harddisk that I am going to buy. I know that the Samsung HDD's are very quit but there a different of them I see. I am looking for a HDD that has a capacity of more then 500GB. The NCQ is bothering me... I don't really know what it is and is it worth of paying more?
Here is a list(it is in dutch):
http://www.alternate.be/html/shop/p...=Harddisks&Level2=Serial-ATA&Level3=3,5+inch&

If you scroll down you'll find the Samsung harddisks.

So, the point is: I am trying to buy the most quiet harddisk. Thanks for your help.

I know that the Seagates are pretty quite, but I alrdady have one and the problem is that when you load something they make a irritating sound. That's why I am looking a samsung harddrive. But can someone tell if it's worth buying one with NCQ or not?

Of course you won't hear a noise when it isn't running an application, but when you run something it makes a noise. It's like someone is knocking... I don't really know how to explain but it does make a noise when you run an application. I have 3 seagates and all makes the same noise when they load something. And other people who also have a Seagate, from their harddisk comes the same noise.

Crackles like crazy.

I've got a couple seagates and I don't hear anything when I do HD instensive things. That said samsung makes fine drives. You can't use NCQ unless you run your SATA controller in AHCI mode and even then, unless you really work the HD it wont help much. What drives are you looking at? I thought most if not all new SATA drives support NCQ.

Looks like you are mainly looking for more capacity? The price looks OK and the drive shouldn't give you any problems.
