Choosing a new monitor

Good morning guys,
My current monitor is a 24" LG Flatron and I don't know if it's the monitor or if it's my computer but the screen is flicking to black when I move the mouse around. When it does this I have to restart my computer and then things go back to normal.

Anyway, I just bought a new gaming rig and I would like to get a new monitor for it. I would like the monitor to be around 24". I'll be playing games like Skyrim and BF4.

Does anyone have some suggestions as to what monitor I should get ($300 budget)???:confused:
I was looking at these two:

They both look good. The three biggest things to look for in a monitor are:
The color ratio. The higher the number to one the better.
The resolution. Get at least 1080p (1920 x 1080).
The response time. At least 5ms, but lower would be better.
