choosing hard drive

Alright, building my new system and I want to make sure I do this right... the computer will be my main one that I will use for heavy gaming, music, video, etc... Pretty much a little bit of everything...

The Mobo I purchased is a Gigabyte 8INXP that supports SATA Raid.. Im still a little confused on what SATA RAID is but im trying to read up on it... But I do know that i have to choose between an IDE Harddrive or a SATA one... any suggestions?

Also, I plan on using a lot of space as well and I was wondering if i should get one huge hard drive or a lot of smaller ones? Or maybe just a small one for the OS and a larger one for the rest of my stuff? I just want to make sure I do this right the first time.

thank you,

It depends on your budget as well as the capacity you are looking for. Some run a SATA drive alone as the main drive while others run an ide with a SATA array for storage if not a second ide drive. Video files will use up drive space far more then a collection of mp3s. Currently there are 750gb Sata drives available if you don't decide on the smaller 500gb. For ide drives many are jumping on 320gb models for the primary.
