Clean install from Win8 Upgrade?

Hi, I haven't done one of these in a while. Does anyone know if I can do a clean install of Windows 8 "Upgrade" version if I have the XP disk and key? I seem to remember way back wen you could use an upgrade that way as long as you had a qualifying OS disk to offer when it asked.

I did find a link hat said you can do a clean install but there are a couple questions that weren't answered clearly. It seems you have to have XP installed at the time of the upgrade. I have 32bit XP Pro on a 320gig hdd. I'd like to do a clean install of a 64bit 8 Pro on a different 500gig hdd. Will it give me those options if I buy the upgrade disk?

You can do a clean install with an upgrade disc. Just install, enter your product key afterwards, and then do a system refresh in PC Settings. Voila, activated.
