Clean Install of Windows XP....Problem

I have a Sony Vaio FS500 laptop. I just installed a fresh install of Windows XP. The CD I used to install this is the service pack 1 version and came from a Dell desktop. I cannot seem to get connected to the internet. When I get connected, I will then download all of the drivers from Sony. I have a DSL connection that I share with 3 computers in my home. When I open internet explorer, it says "The page cannot be displayed". Thanks for all your help.

are you using a router? if so you might want to try go to control panel and add new hardware. Update your computer all the way, till it says up to date. Or something like. :D

No wireless.

How can obtain the ethernet drivers if I cannot get online?

Will it work if I go to another computer and burn the drivers onto a disc and install them?

Yea, oyu'll donwload them as a .exe so so just burn and install

If you used the Dell Windows CD to install you'll need the Dell Resource CD to install several drivers including the ethernet driver. The checkmarked ones are the ones you will need to install. I just went through this with my Dell computer as the HD crashed and Dell only sends out a bare HD with no OS.
