Clean UP!

First post glad to be here!!

I have a one year old dell xps 1210 laptop.
Intel core duo processer
2gig ram
2 gig processor

it has been a good computer with no problems

my question is this

1. What are/is the best thing to check to make sure you computer is working properly.

2. We use this computer primarily for internet and email photos
dont do much video editing but i would like to do more

should i get rid of stuff i don[t need?

Will that speed up what i do want to use?

It always helps to delete or uninstall un-used programs. Have you ever cleaned your laptop for dust? If not, get a can of compressed air and spray the vents of the laptop. Dust buildup always slows and heats up a laptop.
