cleaning LCD

Can someone tell me the best and safest way to clean a LCD screen. Something was spilt on mine but I realy dont know how to clean it. Is it safe to touch the screen?

I found that a little vinegar on a lint-free cloth works great, but make sure to wipe it with a dry cloth before it dries.
