Clear CMOS each time I boot?

I had a problem when a storm hit my pc and knocked my PSU out. I have replaced the PSU and CMOS battery, but now I have to clear CMOS or it will not boot.

Also I am not sure at all how to go about flashing the bios? I downloaded the utility but cannot get it to run from floppy. All files have been unzipped. Can anyone help please?

this probably doesnt help you, but our family comp has to have the CMOS cleared every time i restarted it, the only way to fix this was to get a new motherboard :(

It's one of the most annoying things I have come across. I would not mind if it started first time after clearing it, but no it's fickle and decides to play dead for a while. I think your right a new motherboard is the only answer, CPU seems to be fine and within limits.

Check see if there are any arc marks on the board. (black spots where elctricity arched to the board from the case). Had a clients computer struck by lightning and it went through the ethernet and fried the board. (little black mark right by the ethernet port). If you do see anything like that it's porbably safer to buy a new board.

Have ordered one today. What a pain in the neck. I wouldn't mind so much if it did not work so beautifully when it did start. Very strange.

I am going to take the board out today. I updated the Bios from Gigabyte without any difference, so this is certainly a hardware thing now. I might play with the board if I can find evidence of arcing. I suppose no-one will have parts in any case?

I had a storm knock out my PSU. Nothing would work. I bought a new PSU and checked all components one by one. CPU is well within margins and is good. Installed latest BIOS F9. Clock now keeps time and machine works fine.

Once switched off I have to leave it off for about 5 minutes before it will re-boot. Again, everything seems fine. Although I do notice that RAID controller drivers are missing? I did not have raid installed.

Any ideas please?
 
Someone out there must have had this problem? I have to turn power off before I can reboot. System works fine, in fact as good as it did without any errors. I did hear that a system re-install might work?

Anyone?
