Going from a Celeron D 2.8ghz to a Sempron 3100+ socket 754 would make a fairly large impactt right?

Celeron=supprting DDR266 ram, PTSB=4.3 GB/s 256KB L2 cache, just plan crappy LOL

AMD=Supporting DDR400 ram, PTSB=SB-6.4GB/s MC-3.2GB/s, hypertransport, 384KB :@ cache, newer socket and less watt compsuption?

PTSB=processer-to-system-bandwith
SB=system bus
MC=memery contorller

Also it would lean towared AMD because the generalization for gaming, and that's what im doing. Also a quicker start-up would be nice.

I'm prabally going to go get it tonight, I just want to re-assue my self, then i'll put one on hold for 5$ lmao, it's 79.99 for the CPu AND THE MOBO!, and for a socket 754, semerpon and not the old socket A's thats a damn good price! man I love frys ;)

the PR of the sempron is the rough equivalent of the celeron's speed, the sempron you mention is rated at 3100 and should be a much better performer than the celeron
 
PR? preformance? What I've read is celeron's are about the same as sempron's BUT that's the socket A semprons that have been around for a while, this is the new 64bit 754. (64bit catches my attention too, even though i have nothing that IS 64bit LOL, but its a good "showoff")
 
PR = performance rating.... the "model number" of the chip
they do offer very good performance for the money
 
If you want a quicker start-up though, you might want to look at some XP tweak sites and stuff, I got my boot time down to 25 secs from off to desktop as measured by bootvis.

I'll prabally make money on it. I can prabally sell the celeron and mobo for at least the same amount as im getting the 3100+, I'll sell it to a stupid guy like i do with all my other processer's and mobo's ;) and remembers its not the socket A version.
 
yea id get the sempron... higher fsb... better performance... but overall the performance will change with the higher frequency ram, in my opinion.
that is, if you get ram like that.

edto:Becaise's Tweaker's site tweekers.se I'll currently reading it all now ;) and if you read this right now tweaker I think you need to change the font to harder, its ahrd forme to read, at least on my moniter ;/ I have been highlighting it.

I'm currently un-quick-indexing everythign on my ahrddrive. It's been going for 5minites and ONE bar hasn't even come up yet.....and there are like 40 little bar things....At least its not slowing down my PC while doing it to much(not doing anything resource intensive)


and now i dont know if I clicked cancel somehow maybe or if the loading bar wasn't working becuase it went away and i didn;t relize it untill after...

I think maybe i did cancel it...I just told it to index it then pressed cancel after it only did like 2 files and now im telling it to upindex so its doing it all over again.
