cloning sata hdd on laptop

You just can't clone a drive from one system to another. Different hardware from the original and it won't even boot up, will either boot loop or blue screen.

Make sure you chose disk clone.

Thanks Agent; i ordered this DVD hdd caddy

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...0_128020140_pd_te_s_gr_im/183-4044469-2269508

i used this software

http://www.backup-utility.com/download.html

note;i had an win 7 Iso in the HDD which would never activate,(probably it would if i call Win activation center but that would be too much hassle) and it kept booting on the caddy DVD HDD no mater if i changed boot Drive in bios, so to over come that i had to take DVD caddy out and boot then put CD caddy in place then just use the clone software,it cloned really quick
then i moved the cloned HHD to my other HP DV5 laptop and boom it works like a charm and is genuine activated,

You said from dv6 to dv5? That may work and I guess it does, but keep in mind that hardware could be dissimilar and you could have driver issues with the clone. It is better to use sysprep when moving OS's from one computer to another if the drivers will be different. I guess the motherboard's have to be from the same manufacture in order for sysprep to work correctly though.

Check in device manger on the new cloned computer and make sure you have no yellow exclamation (!) marks in there.

thanks,i don't know if you understood well,i did not clone it from dv6 to dv5 i used the software to clone it in the same pc from drive c to drive d and then i moved the hard drive to the other same motherboard with same cpu same specs exempt one is hp dv5 1245us and the other dv5 1249dx,i already run it on hp dv5 and it's working as expected, besides i already had tried before hp dv6 main hdd on hp dv5 and i knew it run on it same way.

Hi guys; another HDD cloning Win 7 success, this time i had 2 desktops Lenovo Thinkcentre m71 I5 2400,one running Linux and the other Win7,so i got another HDD and used the same software process above, this one did not have to buy any adapter because the sata cables from the DVD drive did the trick, and all genuine activated, and ready for Win 10.
the aomerBackuper Software really works and it's so easy, recommended
