What are your thoughts on the future of cloud computing?
Like most things, it has its pros and it has its cons. Depending on what you need it for and whether the pros outweigh the cons in your opinion or visa versa, could mean that its a brilliant thing.
Some companies will like the idea of having off site server hostings and not having the environmental strain, space, man power as its less for them to worry about.
There are also cloud security options, in the sense that having cloud server virus protection means that the security risks are off site at the first point of call and could be picked up before they even reach your physical LAN
However, there may be those who are quite happy with the way things are and have no problem in having there own on site servers.
there is also the side of the trust and security risk. With the hacks of google (possibly by china) would you want your data being hosted by them or any other cloud service provider? The growing risk of cyber terrorism porbably might put you off the idea.
So basically whether its a good way to go or not largely will depend on your opinion.
Theres an article here that talk a bit more in depth of cloud computing and what it means.

okay do you have en email address where we can discuss this further?
Yes, hard drives have rapidly grown in capacity and declined in price. And, I read the other concerns about cloud computing here. But, if you are going to rely on on-site storage such as an external hard drive or DVD, you should keep in mind that, unless you periodically move that valuable data to an off-site location, you still have some risk of fire, theft, etc. For that reason, I think I'm going to use one of the online storage services and upload photos and other personal files (Word, Excel, etc).... data storage is so cheap these days. I won't be putting anything on a cloud.
