My CMOS Battery just went out and I bought a new one. After installing the new one will I have to reinstall Windows XP?

lol. the bios is just the part that starts your computer. all that you will have to do is reset the drive order and stuff in the bios. this is only if the power compleatly goes out tho.

All you need to do is pull the battery out and put the new one in. It's like installing an 'AA' battery in a remote.;) It's just rounder and flatter.:P

I'm probably going to install with somebody next week because I'm still too scared. Because, It seems like every computer I touch breaks.:o

But it's also embedded in a laptop :P, a bit more complicated than a desktop.

If you're not comfortable opening up your laptop you should ask for a professional to do it. Laptops can be quite complicated to mess around with.

That's why I'm scared. I just bought it a month ago. So, that would be a waste of money. But, I'm going to take your advice and have a professional install with me.

Sorry i didn't realise. :o

if you bought it a month ago the battery should be ok take the laptop back assuming you bought it new, but if you change the battery you will get a csmos error dont worry boot the laptop up and change the time that should solve the problem.
