so ive been building my own PC
got this error

had an exchange done with tiger direct

SAME ERROR AGAIN

question... i don't have a FAN on the CPU
i am just TRYING TO TEST THE MO

is that maybe why?

note..

i get one beep pause one beep pause ONE LOUD beep

tried reseating the ram no progress.

HELPPP!!

thanks

Can you even get into the BIOS? If you can, reset everything to defaults and try and reboot. If you can't, find the jumper on the motherboard for the CMOS reset, move the shunt over and leave it there for 30 or 40 seconds before moving it back. Try then.

That error means that the CMOS values are out of whack. Hopefully resetting them will fix the problem. Overclocking can cause it too, but obviously you're not doing that. If I really had to stretch I would say you could go as far as taking a look at the CPU, but try my first two suggestions first.

okay here's wassup

i put a fan - without thermal - just popped it on the proessor
it DOES stay on longer

BUT cannot get into anything
the error msg kinda just kinda locks tha screen, yahkno what i mean?

i d/ced the hard-drive, same error

damnit how could the BIOS or whatnot be DOA already... it was an exchange... could tiger direct be that shitty or am i ****ing up the CMOS myself n shit by my ruff treatment.. im not good at placing it gently into the tower

um... i will try also removing the battery and replacing it. damn why comps gotta be so complicated sometimes. i got that 3.2 Gig in there and im on my lil 1.6 gig laptop. damn i wanna feel that SPEEEED MANNN runnin' thru my fingers. i luv speed.

ps - plz to readers don't focus on how i type cuz i had to leave craigslists forum cuz they are so intolerant there. im tired, a lil drunk and just country like that. plus im LATE to the club.... !! grrr just want this shit to work

What type of mobo do you have, If you know, what version of BIOS?

It could be as simple as a weak battery as well, the error means the checksum of cmos is incorrect, so the system loads the default equipment configuration. Worst case your cmos could be corrupt.

If nothing at all works try replacing the battery. Who knows maybe you'll be lucky.
