CMOS Reset Issues

Hi Computer Forum,

So I tried playing Dragon Age Inquisition the other day, and I had been running on one stick of ram. The game was lagging so I thought I would put the second stick in. When I did, the computer was been completely unresponsive. I called the company of my motherboard and they recommended reseting the CMOS by taking it out and putting it back. Now I get a message on my screen to continue to set up or Bios Set up, but I cannot go last that point. I assume the computer is freezing because my keyboard works but I cannot go anywhere past that point.

Any ideas?

Specs:
Motherboard: MSI 970A-G46
Ram: Ripjaws Gskill 4g x 2
Graphics card: radeon sapphire 4800 series?
Power supply: EVGA 600B

Press the del key to enter bios, basically you need to reset system date and any special settings you had before the cmos battery removal.

I've tried holding del on start up, but I get no response from the computer at all. I think that the screen just instantly freezes, but there is no way for me to be sure.

Try only using one stick for the new one and/or the old one. Do you get the same behavior that follows the new stick or something different?

Did you buy additional RAM that was similar in speed, timings and voltage to the previous stick?

Also, don't hold down keys at boot. Sometimes the PC will throw a bad keyboard error and refuse to use the input device. You want to tap the key repeatedly instead.

You using a USB keyboard? Could need to find a PS/2 keyboard or a PS/2 adaptor. Might have to enable USB support.
