Cobra Portable Wand Scanner

I purchased a Cobra Portable Wand Scanner 2300WAND. While trying to install to my laptop I received the following message; "Device driver software was not successfully installed. Please consult with your device manufacture for assistance getting this device installed. Device unplugged."

I am getting nowhere with the Cobra support. And I though I would try here.

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 5537 with Windows 8.1
Processor Intel (R) Core (TM) i5-4200 CPU @ 1.60 GHz 2.3 GHz
Installed Memory 8.00 GB
System type 64 - bit operating system.

I appreciate any guidance you can give me.

You need to install the driver software for the scanner. Did it come with an installation CD?

I installed the disk that came with the scanner. I thought the driver software would automatically install from the disk.
