CoD2 graphics glitch

Every once in a while when I play CoD2 I'll get wierd sparatic spikes that point in towards the screen. They are very quick and range in size from barely noticable to a few inches of the monitor in the widest places. They only flicker quickly and I dont get this all the time. It doesnt always happen in the same place either its very random.

Anybody know if its a game, software or hardware issue??

Right now im running 1.2 version of CoD2 and system specs as follows

MSI Neo2 865e plantinum mobo
Intel Pentium 4 2.8ghz prescott HT 800mhz FSB
1 gig Mushkin Advanced DDR400 low latency RAM Dual Channel
ATI X1600pro 512mb DDR3 AGP 8x
Windows XP SP2
Directx 9.0c
ATI Catalyst 6.6 Video Drivers

it could be ur monitor...somethin getting overheated, or too long of use without degaussing, or possibly the cord may have a problem in it. when i play black on xbox some times my cord gets bumbed by my cat and then it does that soo...try those things...this is on ur comp right?? or is it console to tv?
