ok, i first installed a codec pack called nimo codec pack, to play certain file extensions, that windows could not handle by default. this worked fine, until I came across others that i couldn't play, so I ended up installing Ac3 sound filter, divX, and Xvid, on various different occasions forgetting that nimo codec pack was there. later, i came across other extensions that i couldnt play, and was recommended CCCP as an option which i later installed.
I have now ended up with all of these codecs on my PC, and now I have some apparent conflicts going on with the sound on certain DVD's, and other video clips. the sound is very echoed, grainy and slow, but is still possible to make out words etc. it really spoils watching a film though
is it possible to bring up a list in windows XP of all of the codes present on my system so I can post it here and see if anything important is missing?
(if not, why not? surely would be a useful function on an OS, particularly for media use.)
I do remember the installation of CCCP asked me to remove a couple of codecs (which i did), "because they are known to cause problems", i remember one was 'direct vobsub' but cant remember the other.
please help me with this annoying problem,
thanks
