Cold Cathode Problem/Question

I have a set of (2) 12" Blue Cold Cathode lights in my case. Now somehow one of them has a series of cracks in it on one side and seems to run bright and fine other than a red spot in the light in the cracked area. I've looked for a while and have not found anywhere that says whether this is safe or not. Should I just replace it right away or seal it with a clear apoxy?

i agree, although you are probably not in immediate harm, they do potentially contain mercury and although beta raditaion, it may be higher now.
