Combining Physical Memory, CPU

Hello, I had a question that I was wondering a lot about.
My old computer has stopped working and my dad bought a new one, pretty good one, my question is:
Is it possible to take the old computer's physical memory and put it in the new one's? So it would double? From 4GB to 8GB
Any answer will be appreciated.
Also, instructions, because I have completely no idea about it (How it looks like or anything)

chances are you don't need it, and unless you can tell us both the models of computers we can't say as there is a chance one uses DDR2 and the other DDR3, which are not interchangeable.

Don't want to rain on your parade, but pretty much all new PCs come with DDR3 nowadays, so unless the old PC was already running on DDR3 (which I doubt), there is no way.

What you can do is to sell your old memory and buy the new one instead (now is a good time for that as DDR3 is dirt cheap at the moment).
