Command & Conquer TFD + Vista

I am having problems getting C&C The First Decade to even run in Vista... It won't run and it won't run in Compatibility mode, it gives me an "Insert correct DVD-ROM error" in compat. mode.

Does anyone know of a definite fix?

Please do not give me generic fixes, like video card drivers, run as admin, etc. I am pretty up to date on that...

Thanks

How about trying google.com?

How about not making a useless post? I've already done that and that's one of the many reasons I said--

Guys this is Vista x64... The file system is different when it comes to Program Files, you have Program Files and then I have Program Files(x86).

I have it working on my laptop, it's Vista x86...

All I am saying is asking for free help and you are already demanding things. If I were to invoice you for my time, or anyone else would, then yeah I can see you expecting that. However, this is a free public forum and we have no idea how you set anything up or your level of knowledge or anything about you other than what is perceived on this forum. Many times it is necessary to get all the information first before trying to troubleshoot.

That is why I asked if you googled it.

Hello! I've just figured out how to get the games that gave the "Please insert correct CD-ROM" message to work.

Go into the game folders themselves. For Tiberian Sun, use compatibilty mode under Windows 98/ME, for the file "Game.exe". For Generals and Zero Hour, use Windows Server 2003 (Service Pack 1) for their .exe files. RA2 + Yuri's Revenge worked fine under Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode. C&C1, RA1 and Renegade should work fine for everyone as the CD isn't needed for them.

I hope this works for you. Good luck!

I hate to say it.. But it doesn't work, and this time it's MS's and EA's fault... EA's fault for releasing a game in early '06 that cannot find its own .exe using the games launcher application. Or you would at least think they would patch it.. But once again, it's EA.... MS's fault because the 64-bit OS's have no current way of emulating the 32-bit OS's filesystem. This is very dumb on MS's part. And as for EA, what is new with them? I have came across many a patch for an EA game that did nothing. I might just run XP or 2k in a VM to get this to run on my desktop. I think if I actually knew exactly how to make it emulate the 32-bit filesystem, I would make the app, just so MS could take the idea and put it to work for themselves. I am done ranting now...

Thanks for your time, I figured there was a workaround but I guess I thought wrong..
