Hi
I downloaded the comodo which is free.I know it's top rated but with all the pop up choices and everything it gets complicated..Like "Treat this as an installation"..."do you want to switch back to prvious mode?"

I already had Sunbelts Kerio which is a little too bare boned...And I hear the one that comes with my XP isn't that great..I'm willing to pay for a decent one..I already have counterspy as an anti spyware app.

Thanks in advance

While zonealarm is simple and easy to use it doesnt offer the protection people think it does. In any case id go for Agnitum outpost.

If you're willing to pay for firewall support, I'd suggest a combination of both hardware, like those in routers, and software. A hardware firewall is superior in it's ability to protect against threats outside an internal network, a software firewall can be superior in it's ability to protect against threats from within a local network, trojans, email worms, etc. While just one provides sufficient protection, "stacking" both a software and a hardware firewall together provides the best measure of protection.

As for which software firewall to buy, I'd recommend online armor, or Outpost. They seem to be the best rated against leaks and the such.
