Comp rebooting...

Hello!
Well in last few days I've met a couple of strange cases. People's computers restart everytime when the computer boots, just as the part of startup.
It's impossible to enter the normal mode, but all fixes have to be done in the safe mode.

My friend was the first case I met. He lives near me so I came over there and tried to fix the problem. I scanned his computer with multiple scans and found nothing. Then I scanned with the HijackThis and found a startup line ( as indicated in the thread I've linked to ) and I coudn't find any details about it...
I didn't fix it yet. Then I ran msconfig and I found the exact same line in there, on startup. I left it alone, though I knew it was not on my computer.
I used ComboFix ( was desperate ) and then again went to msconfig, just to see that the line named %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k
changed its' name to blank. Nothing. Just a blank line, but you can click on it and remove from startup. I did it, that fixed the problem.

However, the problem started to happen again, after a few days, that is to say, yesterday. He's using System Restore and he gets back to the point when that is 'fixed' and it always starts happening again after coupple of hours.

Then my other friend got the same infection ( if that is an infection ) and now this case on computer forum...

I just created this thread to see if anyone knows what can be the problem; how and why is that happening; is that line really the answer and finally, how to remove it completely.

Update!

I found the answer how to remove it; and what the dumprep0-k is.
My lack of googling skills has cost me some time :D
It's all fixed here.

However, that stops the errors only; I am therefore sure all what I have suggested and done to my friend and to this person on computer forum is temporary.

There are apparently some errors with Operating System.
Just discovered it's some error screen when booting, my friend still can't get to normal mode, blue screen of death stops him. Then it reboots again and now he's in safe mdoe waiting for my suggestions. I'm about to tell him for chkdsk.

I'll keep on updating, no I don't intend to stop searching for an answer because I find it too suspicious that so many cases this week have been hit by the error.
Probably some XP update problem, hang with me still!!
 
Another update:

For now, the chkdsk c:/f command helped. The OP ( my friend ) can now enjoy in the normal mode :P
The only question is...will it remain the same?
I'll keep updating...in case someone cares.

Still want an asnwer though.
Why is it happening to some people and to some not?
 
Update:

The fixes above certainly work. The thing is nothing stops the BSoD-s. My friend has received couple of BSoD-s before he was able to get into normal mode. Now you will eceive another update thrugh couple of hours, when my friend ( if my friend ) receives another BSoD and he will take a picture of it in order to see what the problem is.

I'm still looking for some expert to tell me WHY ON THIS EARTH is that happening to more people in the same time??
 
Wow...another update:

I've fixed my friend's computer. I found it so hard to believe that there are more such cases happening in the same time...how can they be related??
The reason why am I asking this is because I found that the source of his problem was a driver, adidts.sys.

Deleting it from the system resulted with healthy computer, except that now somehow his SoundMax driver got deleted :confused:!

Will fix it using the Motherboard disk...

So is it possible that some adidts.sys file/driver caused all that problems on many different computers?
