comp slowing down

my comp is really slow now.. doesnt seem to b runnin at 3.5ghz, when i double-click internet explorer, takes like 10 seconds just to open it , and for guildwars, its lagging a lot now... i defragged it and it is still slow .. wat could b wrong wit my pc?

yes i did everything basically >< but still couldnt find da problem y it is so slow now.. would it b cuz i have styleXP on? :confused:

is sp2 splipstreamed into ur install cd, if not then do it, and nlite all of the security updates into it

have all of ur security programs on a cd for when ur done with installing xp

u do not want to use/connect to the internet without all of this done

so reinstall windows and do this, do a clean install

yes slipstreamed sp2, installed all security b4 pluggin in internet ... wat else could b wrong.. :(
 
did u defrag it? dont use the windows defragger, use diskeeper
and give it a week, for me it sometimes takes about a week to get working good after a clean install

Well... I wouldn't think that with the amount of RAM you have and your processor, StyleXP could be slowing it down... however, I'm really opposed to the program because it does hog quite a few resources.

Since you've got a 3.2Ghz machine and havent noted that its OCd or anything, it shouldnt be running at 3.5Ghz. I'll assume that was a typo ... one way you can check is to fire up something like CPUz ... is your machine throtlling itself due to heat?
