what happens when u try to shutdown? need a little more help there ;)

you can try disabling quick shutdown, its in msconfig (i believe, i have not used 98 in a long time)

When I use start, turn of computer, it just goes to Windows 98 screen that says windows is shutting down. Then it does nothing. I have to press and hold down switch to shut down. Then when I turn it back on it says windows was shut down wrong, so it has to check drives for errors.
Thanks

One quick fix that may make Windows 98 shutdown properly is to disable a feature called Fast Shutdown.
  1. To disable Fast Shutdown: Select Start --> Run, type msconfig in the field, and press Enter.
  2. Click the Advanced button on the General tab of the "System Configuration Utility".
  3. Place a check beside Disable Fast Shutdown.
  4. Reboot and then try shutting down the system.
