Compaq Evo Laptop Wont Boot

Whenever I turn on the computer, an error message occurs that says "NTLDR missing press any key to restart" so I press enter and it say "Non-system disk or disk error. Please replace and restart." I think I could fix this by restoring the HDD but I don't want to lose all my files and software. Is there a different fix than reseting the whole HDD? Thanks.

can you not even do a system restore.

The best thing u can do is to take out the hard drive and get the data off it
Use one of these

Then when your data is safe u can do a recovery.
u can also try to repair your installation with a windows disc but the fact you're getting this error might mean a damaged hard drive.

If you want you can make this simpler just repair windows. No data will be lost by doing this.

I didnt get a Windows disk with the laptop, so I dont think I can restore Windows without logging on. I'll try the system restore with a Hard Drive restore disk. Thanks for the help.

I think you need to buy a new laptop PC. Its better than the compaq evo.
