I bought a compaq evo n1000c and have a problem I cant fix. Ive researched everywhere with no luck
When i start up after loading xp i get a message stating the bios clock
and the windows clock time are different.
After entering bios the bios time was set for 2003 but i cant access
it to change it to the right time and date etc. All the system info
displays but iam unable to enter into a mode where i can alter/adjust it. Can
anyone give me an idea of what to do
cheers

Have you tried leaving it plugged in for a little bit, then rebooting, entering BIOS and seeing if you can change it then? Also, maybe try pulling the laptop battery out and just running off of the power adapter only (on a model that old, I'm sure the battery is dead anyway, am I right?)

AFAIK, the laptop battery enables the lappy to retain the time/date settings in BIOS. If BIOS is detecting that the battery is dead, maybe it won't let you change them? But if the battery is gone altogether, maybe it will? I seem to recall having the same problem w/ my Evo.

The only problem is that now, every time you unplug the lappy, you'll have to reset the date/time in BIOS.
