compaq presario c500 not xp instaled

My note book compaq presario c500


canot install xp...

prob....booting ok F8 agree then click...my lap tap is off...

Ram ok HDD ok power suply ok... normal working fine no power cut

help me sir what can i do...........?

Your post doesn't make any sense. Are you trying to install XP? Do you have the XP cd or how are you trying to reinstall?

Hi,

As you referenced an HP/Compaq notebook, your posting caught my attention. I agree with John's response. If you are installing XP using recovery cds that appear to be defective, please let me know if I can assist in getting the cds replaced.

sir thx for u r quik response.....

my note book some virus attack verry slow....i think format then installl xp .. faster my note book ....no recovery cd ...... but orginal xp sp2availble....booting frm external cd rom installing time start windows F8 agree click then my note book is total power cut....genraly cmos or power on working fine ( my note book present no OS)....sir after format this problem
create but how to install ....pls solve my prob..thx

F8 is for safe mode, not to reinstall windows. The problem you are having is that your laptop probably doesn't support booting to a usb device. What is wrong with the internal cdrom drive? Is it broke? Check the bios to see if it can boot to a usb device and set it that it will.
