Hello, I have a Compaq Presario SR1820NX, and I know it's 'old'. But I was wondering if there was anyway I could upgrade it.. I don't know any of the internal specs of it and all that stuff. But I know that the original HD that it came with got fried and it has a 'new' one in it. Thanks for any of the help.

Ok, so you're looking at a socket 939 (fairly old but still useable), DDR RAM, and most importantly a PCI-e 16x slot on your board. This means you can put a fairly modern graphics card in there without too many ill consequences, as long as your PSU can handle it.

Depending on your usage, it may be worth just building a new system from scratch rather than trying to upgrade your current system. :)

I would upgrade RAM and maybe a cheap video card depending on what card is in there. If it were me I would not go further than buying 1g of DDR ram for probably around $40.
