Compaq version of Vista

I've recently purchased a Compaq desktop computer now that I have had the computer a few months I'm starting to get very frustrated with all the add on programs that Compaq has included.

I guess the version of Windows Vista that was intalled was the "Compaq version of windows vista" The computer obviously came with the vista key, but did not come with a physical copy of Vista, instead it has a partitioned hardrive and all the re-boot info is on the partition.

What I want to do is format the hardrive, and start fresh. My question is can I format the hardrive download a copy of Vista to put on a disk, and reinstall Vista without all the Compaq crap, but still use the Vista key that came with my computer?

Welcome to the forums cage, please review the rules !!;)
Yes you can format the hard drive but i advise you to Buy original vista.
and NO you won't be able to use the cd-key the came with the compaq

I figured that since I already purchased the official license with my computer that cd key would still be valid.

So basically you're telling me I have to decide if spending $200 is worth the annoying programs that Compaq installed on my computer.

lol, you said "buy linux, its free"

yeh, download linux, its free :) If you want a non tampered with version of windows, dont get compaq
