Compaq wireless lan w200 trouble

I just got one of these w200 things.

I installed it, and the drivers. I get a green light on the side of the device, and it appears to be picking up a signal from my houses wireless router. Yet when I click for it to connect, it gives me an error basically saying that I must be out of range.

Any ideas? The signal strength is showing to be max.

I was using a dlink wireless card in the side port of an Evo N610c. I'm wondering if the computer is attempting to pull something from that empty slot and I need to shut it off somehow.

I don't really know how to do that though.

Thanks!

Sometimes it's the basics. It appears to be just a driver issue.

I had installed the drivers that came with the cd, and the device was detected fine.

I dug a little deeper and the driver was listed as from 2002. So a quick update and now everything works fine.

Crap, the new driver worked for about 2 minutes. Lost enough to make that post, then blue screen of death.

Apparently when they updated to WPA (or so I read) crashes result with a lot of routers.

I'm not sure how to make this thing stable, or if the product is just out of date.
