Compaq Won't turn on

My niece's Compaq Presario CQ60 laptop shut off on her, and now it won't turn on.

Pressing the power button, only makes the power light flash twice, then nothing else happens.

I plugged in the charging cord, but the charging light didn't even turn on.

I was thinking the power supply went, but I'm not sure.

What could have happened?

Probably a bad motherboard, as those laptops are known to fail. You could try a new power adapter but I doubt that'll fix anything.

I took the laptop apart, and the CPU was literally fried. It was a bit charred. The fan was broken as well. So, the problem was the fan broke, and as a result, the CPU never cooled down, literally frying it.

First, I would suggest we check if there is any LED turns ON on the power adapter.

secondly, try the following to do the simple discharge and reset on the laptop ourselves before asking others for the hardware repairs.
1. remove all power sources including power adapter and battery.
2. pressing the laptop power button over 15 seconds do not let go.
3. connect the power cord only and power on the laptop again.

Also, checked if the CPU been overheated or the fan is able to turns freely.
If still the same problem, we need to check the laptop power module and the mobo.
