Comparing AMD to Intel

Is there anyway to work out what a AMD Chip is Equivalant to In the Intel Range,

Like, I have a Amd 3800+ and it Registers as 2.41GHZ
Yet, I have a Intel 3.01 Ghz Computer,

and i would say that despite the .6 Ghz i think the AMD comes in quicker...

AMD is quicker because it can do more instructions per clock

I think Amd 3800+ would be equivalent to a Pentium4 3.6GHz

other than benchmarks and knowledge, no
the old x2 3200 = pd 3.2ghz is a loose approximation at best

Theres alot more to processor performance then clock speed, otherwise there wouldnt be a difference between a Sempron and an Athlon!

In terms of the current generations if CPUs from Intel and AMD, Intel wins hands down. The Core 2 Duo CPUs use less power and performs better. I guess its really hard to compare between Intel and AMD without actually benchmarking because they use different architectures.
