Compatability Issues????

Hey Everybody. I was looking at this processor - Intel Pentium 4 530J 3.0GHz and in the reviews it says that your Motherboard has to have a 915 or a 925 northbridge chipset...Is that true? Is it easy to find mobo's with that chipset? Thanks a lot,

Motherboard has to have a 915 or a 925 northbridge chipset...

You need a LGA775 socket and a BIOS that supports prescott (and all the extra features of the J models). Usually this means a 9x5 chipset but there isn't any reason it wont run on the i865s with LGA775s

Sorry, but what is a BIOS? I know I should prob. know this...

Yes that board will work, the BIOS is a chip on the motherboard

Also, Asus likes to provide BIOS' that support all CPUs that will work with the chipset so if all the features don't work try updating the BIOS with the Asus utility.
