Hi i am building a custom rig, and i need to know if the compatability for my motherboard and ram are good:)


Corsair CMT12GX3M3A2000C9 12GB Kit Dominator GT (2000mhz)

Gigabyte G1-Assassin XL-ATX Motherboard


links are connected to them, it says on the page for motherboard it supports 2200/1800/1333Mhz and that ram is 2000mhz, heaps of people have said it will be good, but im just getting some last opinions

I ALSO NEED A CASE, IF YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE LEAVE BELOW, PREFERABLY ONE THAT LOOKS REALLY COOL:)
 
Yes they are compatible.
Please tell us your budget we can whip something up for you.
Also 12GB RAM is overkill.
Also LGA 1366 is a dead socket now.Go with the socket 1155.

i have a pretty large budget

also overkill, what do u mean?

and does it really matter if it is a dead socket, it will still last me 3-4 years
 
Give us the specific Budget.
And By overkill I mean way more than you will need.
And will you be using it for gaming or + something else.Please be precise about what you will be using it since on it the entire build depends

ok i have around $4000 max, the build i have gotten so far is around $3000

i will be using it for hosting a game server, and also for programming, also it isnt a dead socket, intel are also might be bringing out their new processors on it

Intel Will be releasing Socket 2011 in Q4 this year.Which will replace 1366 as High End Socket

alright but say i even do go with the 1155 socket now, i will still have to upgrade everything to the 2011 socket later anyway, so why dont i go with this for now, and then in a few years time, just go with a future one that will come out?
 
I am in class on my blackberry so won't be able to explain in detail.the point I am trying to make is the sandy bridge series is better than the old lga 1366 i7s.in gaming the sb i7 outperforms even the gulftown.the i5 2500k is also a pretty good processor and will perform better than the old i7s in gaming.gerting anything more than that will be truly useless.
