I am building my first computer and would like to make sure the parts I have chosen were compatible and if you had any advice it would be greatly appreciated.

These are the parts I have chosen:

Video Card: Asus 1GB Radeon HD 6850 DirectCU PCI-E 2

Prossesor: AMD FX 4-Core Black Edition FX-4100

Motherboard: msi990XA-GD55

RAM: Vengeance® — 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 Memory Kit (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B)

Case: Carbide Series™ 300R Compact PC Gaming Case

Hard drive: Seagate® Barracuda® 3.5" Internal Kit

Power supply: Corsair CMPSU-600CXV2UK Builder Series 600W Power Supply

DVD WR: Sony 24x Internal DVD Rewriter – Black

I would be grateful for any feedback...................

What type of games will you be playing? The 6850 may be a little weak depending on the games you want to play. Other than that the build looks good.

Looks like a decent build, if you up your budget a bit then a Radeon 6870 would be a good graphics card to get. You may also want to think about an i3 2100 rather than the FX-4100. I know it's a dual-core and the FX-4100 is a quad-core, but the i3 does have 4 threads, and it is a better performer, and it's like $15 more.

A 600W PSU is likely overkill for that system, I'd say 550W or 500W would be enough.

So I'd recommend
Change graphics card to Radeon 6870 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150521
Change CPU to Core i3 2100 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115078
If using the i3, get this board http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131781
Use this PSU if you want to use a 6850 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139027&Tpk=corsair cx500 otherwise stick with the CX600

The RAM will work with the i3 and the P8Z68-V just fine.
