Compatible Ram

I want to get a 1GB RAM stick for my desktop computer, Ive got an AMD Athlon XP 2500+ although id like a stick thats easily compatible with other processors because hopefully in the near future Ill be getting a newer model. who knows? im quite a noob so for all i know all ram is compatible with any processor but i thought id just make sure thx.

It doesn't work this way.
You are forced to get the type of RAM your motherboard supports which is DDR in your case.
If you upgrade in the future to a core2duo or any Socket AM2 AMD processor...etc you will have to buy a new RAM.

The first thing to go by there is the specifications for the board. That will show the fastest DDR memory supported which may or may not be DDR400 PC3200 memory. With that model cpu you will see a 333mhz total. DDR400 can also be used on a newer Socket 754 or 939 model board. For the newer AM2 and Intel boards Shady summed that up good. Even with PC3200 you would be running at the PC2700 speed.
