Hey guys,

i want to compleatly wipe my hard drive clean...not just a standard format when you install windows.

how do i go about wiping the drive clean....so then i can install windows on a 100% formatted drive?

what software do i need and is it dangerous using software like this?
http://dban.sourceforge.net/

i dont want to damage my hdd.

thanks:)

Zero fillers usually don't damage any drives since they are simply writing binary zeros to the entire drive. The boot from floppy types usually take a full day on something like a 13gb size drive. Now go for one 320gb or 500gb in size and spend all week!

A faster easier option would be simply using a drive tool like GParted Live for cd to simply delete the existing primary partition in order to create a fresh new one. The XP installer will then format it when putting a fresh copy of Windows on it.
