hi i currently am useing a 2002 compaq presario 5000 and i am lookin for a new computer is it worth buying a new one or customizing my exesting one?and BTW my budjet is around £500 uk

Don't waste your time customizing the Compaq.
 
Dell make good reliable pc's as do evesham.
I would stay clear of Mesh Computers
Could always see what pc world has got on offer?
 
i will be useing it mainly for internet browsine music and MSN .i will need a tower monitor and speakers for £500 can anyone help?

wouldnt touch pc world with a barge pole for a complete built system, possibly use it for the odd emergency part but in general I would not buy a machine from them. Might just be personal opinion but far too often its overpriced and the after sales is diabolical

Dell and Evesham make some pretty good stuff, if your happy with your current monitor then just pop over to dell's site and have a browse, should easily find something to meet your requirments

just go to dell's web page and click on home/home office pcs, then go to basic entry level pc's, and u can choose a desktop and then customize it from there, for what ur doing, i would only get like a 2.5 ghz processor, 512 mb of ram, 80 gb hard drive, and just standard video and sound cards. you should easily be only paying 500 or less.
 
Dell is rubbish. Best would be if you bought all the parts yourself and just put it either together yourself or have someone else do it for you.
 
for about 500 BP you could easily put toget a computer that would crush your compaq. I recently built a computer for my dad at work with a 4200X2, 2gb of ram (corsair value) a decent hdd, (terrible gpu) for about $800 (which is somewhere are 500BP) i would recommend building your own for sure.
