Complete newbie wanting to get into Linux

Well as the title suggests, I want to start using Linux. I've had enough of Windows' piss poor performance. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what an ideal distro would be? Suse looked pretty nice.

Also, anyone got any good useful links with tutorials/FAQs etc?

Thanks in advance.

I think Linux Mint is easiest to use, its based on Ubuntu so its got a really strong base, with the addition of more useability. I'm personally not a fan of the Red Hat-based distro's like Fedora and SuSE.

Well if you're using Linux Mint, that has a pdf manual with it.

If you feel like spending money, the Linux For Dummies book is really helpful as you get started, it helped me a lot, and also comes with a DVD full of distros.

Also, you might want to try this, the Linux Distribution Chooser quiz, which asks you questions based on your needs and skill level, and then shows you some distros you might like. It's not entirely scientific, but its a nice guide.

I have the ubuntu disk and man is that nice and then I just ordered Kubuntu because that looked nice to. The best thing is both of these disks u can free.

I would suggest ubuntu

go to www.ubuntu.com
