Complete Shutdown

Hello all...
A few months ago I began to notice a issue when playing certain games that my pc would completly turn off with no error posting. At first it was very rare maybe once a week but the problem progressively got worse. I then consulted friends and computer people who most agreed it must have been the crappy "come with case" PSU that was causing system unstability. Well I purchased a OCZ 600w GameXStream PSU and no fix to problem (Although when it did work on games i saw a slightly higher framerate). It still shutdown during games. At this point i was told it might be heat problems and I did discover my CPU idle at 49c and 68c under load so i thought that must be it. Well a new Gigabyte PowerLite 110mm Fan/Heatsink CPU cooler, and good amount of Artic Silver 5 later no effect to the problem but i was seeing my CPU idle now at 34c and 43c under load :). I have even gotten new ram and set timings manually and tested fine with no effect. My last idea was it must be software since i was seeing my desktop lockup with getting a "Access Denied" error when trying to access my task manager so i decided bye bye C:/ drive. After installing windows and all new drivers i was hoping that was it. Well it didnt work and now its happening more often in lord of the rings online and bf2142. I cant even get 4 min into them without the pc shutting off. And what is really wierd is i can game for hrs and hrs on Counter strike source and Prey with never having a shut down.

Sorry for the long winded story but i though all info would help. Any advice is well appreciated.

Ive checked over my NVIDIA control panel and it shows my GPU never hitting over 57c. Also I dont see how LOTRO or BF2142 could overheat the gpu in under 5min and Prey and Counterstrike Source to never crash at all.

This is by far the most confusing problem ive ever run into.

Does the pc restarts only when playing games?

Something similar used to happen to me with an Pentium3 pc I had.. it would restart very often and it got worse with the time. I found out that it was the motherboard, capacitors were "melting",, probably an overheating problem or a manufacturer defect.

look at your mobo and see if there is anything unusual happening,, it could be the mobo.
