Composite Input

I have a rig with a high end gaming oriented NVidia PCIE graphics card on a LANParty NF4 ATI motherboard. This is probably a really easy question, but forgive me, I don't know too much about hardware.

I am going off to college soon and would like to avoid brininging a TV. My Computer obviously can play DVDs, but I would also like to use my monitor to play gaming consoles on. What is the most cost effective way to do this if I don't need the absolute best picture?

As I understand it I can buy an inexpensive PCI card that would be able to take RCA composite video input and route it out through my graphics card with the right software. This seems like a good option if I right and it is possible. What would be the best card to do this? I don't want to just go by the lowest price, but I also don't really need a top of the line card for this either. As for Audio in this set up, where could I get a cable to convert stereo RCA jacks into a standard 3.5mm speaker jack?

A cheap capture card yields cheap results. Many times the cards can lag, too. I have a cheaper PCI capture card and it's ok for TV at a distance, but console games are horrible on it. It skips a whole lot and the quality is horrible. I also have a WinTV PVR150 which is incredible. However, it had about a 5 second buffer lag. Try playing a game where everything's 5 seconds behind what's actually happening

There are some tuners you can buy that connect directly to your monitor. That'd probably be your best bet. You can't capture or use PVR features, but you can use PIP and play your games on your monitor. The quality would probably be quite good, too

As for audio, yes, there are cables and what not for RCA to 3.5mm

Any recomendations for what tuner or a site to tell me what tuner to buy?

dont that have compostise to VGA or DVI adapters
The Dreamcast did. The console I care most about is the Wii, which currently does not. There is speculation as whether there will be an adaptor for it, but currently it is no on the release board.

I don't think so. I've seen DVI to RCA... Realize the standards are totally different, and I don't think many monitors can accept them by default.

That wasn't a RCA to DVI converter, that was a special addaptor for the system. I'm quite sure the pin-out was totally different on the connector than the standard RCA connection.

As for a tuner(not internal) I've never owned one, so I don't really know of a good one. However, you could look around on newegg and find reviews and what not.

I misunderstood what he was saying and was talking about a special adaptor.
