Hey, i need help with my computer, it is acting very funny, i beleive it is due to spyware/virus. I reinstalled windows 2000. I will do a fresh copy as a last result but i want to know if theres a way to save my computer. Heres whats happening:
My internet on some sites is dsl speeds, some sites its like dial up, and then it doesnt work at all. It will go dsl speeds for about 5 seconds, the dial up speeds for about 5 seconds, then the internet wont work for about 10 seconds, then it repeats the cycle. It is really starting to bother me.
I have done adware SE, spybot, scans. My current antivirus is avg pro, up to date.

I ran HiJack this and scanned and this is what came up:

P.S. the performance of my computer is the same just internet acts funny, i have dsl 768KB by the way

your log is clean from malware.:)
Open your taskmanager, (rightclick on the taskbar, click taskmanager), goto the Processes tab, then click the CPU column header twice. That should show all the processes that take up CPU time at the top first. THEN go to those sites and note what files are taking up the most time at each interval, (especially when it slows to dialup speeds, and also, when it doesn't go anywhere). Post back with the results.

I think this, whatever is going on, is trying to make me look bad. When i did what you said i dont have that dial up crap thats been going on. The thing that takes the most of the cpu is System Idle Process, System, and IExplorer. The next time it acts up ill let you know the stuff in Taks Manager

ahh, i couldnt figure it out, all the online scans came up with nothing. No adware scans found anything, nothing worked so i just said screw it. I just installed a fresh copey and now everything works great.
