Computer acting very strange

So I was using my HP DV6500t last night and the mouse froze. Eventually everything else froze, including all keyboard keys (caps light wouldn't light up, media keys stopped working). I had to shut the computer down and upon restart I started to notice some weird stuff. Here are the different scenarios and results.

1. W/ charger plugged in. Computer starts up and screen light does not come on. 3 seconds later it shuts down. 2 seconds later it starts back up on it's own. screen light still does not come on and computer stays in that state, silent and not displaying anything.

2. After computer rests through the night. Starts up fine. Display comes on and computer loads fully. Everything operational for about 45 seconds until the mouse freezes again and the cycle starts over.

Does anyone know what the heck's going on?
 
possibly a software issue (virus like) or maybe your power supply isn't working properly. i'd suggest posting a hijackthis log (heres the site, click the download log on the top right corner, and post the results on here, http://www.hijackthis.de/) i myself am not the best at deciphering them, but a few people on here are good, i'd make a new post, in software, called 'Laptop issues, hijackthis log posted'
 
Running that program is difficult as I am not able to access any screen whatsoever on the laptop. The power adapter is fine and I re-seated the memory as HP suggested. No change.
 
Change the mouse and plug the laptop on to a extenal monitor.
If you still have problems you might want to put your laptop hardrive into another computer.
And see if you still get a problem.
