Computer as Modem?

Today I received a Powermac G4 in the mail from eBay, however it did not come with an airport card and I don't have a cord long enough to plug it into the modem. If I were to plug an ethernet cord into the back of the Mac and the other end of cord into my PC which has a wireless adapter, would I be able to browse the internet?

Yes but you will need to do some configuring. First, that would not be turning your computer into a modem, your computer will simply act as a bridge.

when you connect the mac to the pc through ethernet, go into network connections and select the two networks, right click on and then click bridge connections

you should be able to access the net now

Your best bet would be to just share your wireless connection using internet connection sharing, bridging them together would work but I think some extra configuring would be quired. ICS will just work straight away.

It's not really that hard, I did it all the time to use my XBox 360 on Live in our basement.

Im assuming though that he has limited experience. briding and ics esentially do the same thing and ics is easier to setup, hence why i suggested it.

Absolutely, I didn't mean to say your way was wrong, as doing either one will work.
