Computer build... finally

I've almost finished picking out all the parts and figured I'd ask for some advice on the parts I don't have yet. By the way, it's for gaming more than anything else.

Parts I do have:

Vid card: EVGA 8800GTS 320mb
Power supply: Rosewill RT750
Sound card: Creative XB Fatal1ty extreme gamer
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820134065 (Kingston 1gb ddr2 800 pc 6400)
Keyboard: Logitech G11
Mouse: Logitech Mx518
Disk drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827136117

monitor will probably just be bought locally since it's easier.

Stuff I do need however:
Mobo and processor: Just can't pick out what I want. Just want a combo to run most higher end games with zero problems. Don't want to spend more than say, $300 and I'm not picky on AMD or Intel. whatevers better. I have an AMD right now and love it but I'm not a die hard fan by any means

Case: need something to fit everything and get sufficient enough air flow without having to worry about burning a video card... again :)

Any suggestions are welcome, even a change in what I already have lined up in the way of RAM or drive but the other stuff is already in my possession.

I had planned on going with at least 2 gigs of ram, guess I forgot to say how much of that I was going to buy. As for the case, I was willing to spent in the neighborhood of $100 in the name of airflow so I guess that one will do. The look of the case isn't all that important but the performance is. Thanks for the help shadow!

One more ? though, how do you know if a mobo will fit into the case or is it a universal thing? Thats the main thing that prevented me from making the decision myself.

Practically all motherboards and cases support ATX or microATX setups, so yes they're basically universal. BTX cases are made as well, but they are very very rare.

Well the 8800GTS is already sitting here next to me so thats pretty much a moot point :D

Is patriot extreme a reputable company? I usually just stuck with kingston or corsair.

patriot is OK. And patriot extreme is cheap anyway. Or you can just go for Consair XM2 2x1GB DDR2 800 CL4

DVD burner. I suggest getting a SATA one such that u don't have big IDE cable blocking air flow.

What type of case would you like? Cheap? Expensive?
Some common ones are:

I wouldn't say that price isn't a problem but I don't need a case with a skull on it that is gonna run me $900. Looking in the neighborhood of $100 or so and looking for a full tower so that I don't have space issues with anything. Figured my knowledge on this is limited where as you all have a plethora of it so let me know if my take on any of this seems a bit skewed :D
