computer build for this winter

I probably do more multitasking but I go through spells where games is about all I do. Now I am really getting confused.

What about the case? Do you have any suggestions on the case?

Antec 900, P180 are all good cases.

If you do go for the 900, get a modular PSU.

Go with the Q6600 and P35-DS3L then.

I think I am going to go with the q6600 for now.

On the case, will there be plenty of room for everything to fit in a mid tower case?

I have been looking at different motherboards and I'm still not sure. Which one would be better out of these?

One thing I like about the first one is it has 8 usb ports and the others only have 4 and the price. Are any of these boards 45nm compatible?

I would like to go with the x38 chipset but they cost quite a bit more. The cheapest one I found is about 200 bucks, yikes.

The DS3L is a great board. It will support 45nm processors once you flash the newer bios (Gigabyte has a program called @Bios that makes this incredibly simple.), but if you're starting off with a 45nm you might have to ask gigabyte to do it for you or something, iunno.

I have been doing some research on motherboards and have a few questions. Are there any motherboards that have both PCI Express 2.0 slots and compatible with DDR3 memory? If not which one would be better to have? If I don't get the Gigabyte DS3L motherboard, I thought about this one:

I have like to have one that is either DDR3 compatible or has PCI Express 2.0 slots so I can upgrade in the future.

As for the case, I think I may go with the Antec 900 since I hear so many good things about it. Man, I don't know. The more I think about it, the more I want to go with a full tower.

P31-S3G
P31-DS3L

also can be flashed. Cheaper too. Same boards, just 4GB less memory support.

Dual BIOS also helps in this area if you screw up.

So If I get the E8400 CPU, would I have to contact Gigabyte to do something to the bios so it will support 45nm?

Also, I am connected to the internet through a network. Both computers are Windows XP. Would a Vista computer work with a XP computer?

Download the flash and follow their instructions.

It might. I've heard lots of problems though.

Well, I went to Gigabyte's website and found out the motherboard supports 45nm processor:) I also found out that the ram I picked out is not on the supported ram list.

Does this mean I have to get different ram? If so, what do you recommend?

Well I ordered everything off of Newegg except for the processor last night. Here is what I bought:

Now I bought the processor off of Dealiverable.com. I bought it last night and now today I get an email from them saying my order is canceled because the item is out of stock. This really makes me mad because on the item page it says it is available. If it's not available they should say on that page. This really burns me up:mad:

I have been looking around to see if I can find any some where else and have not found any that is not overpriced. Looks like if I buy one now, I am going to have to spend $250 or wait until Newegg gets them back in stock. Even Newegg is a little high compared to some other places.

I am thinking about getting the q6600 CPU since I can't seem to find a E8400 anywhere that is not way overpriced. Man, I really want that E8400. I'm just not to enthused(might be spelled wrong) about the q6600. This may sound weird but it just seems kind plain to me, doesn't really get my attention like the E8400 does.
